Un libro da leggere, in questi tempi dove quello che sembrava ormai patrimonio collettivo
(diritto della donna all'aborto e all'autodeterminazione), sembra essere messo di nuovo gravemente in discussione. Silvia Federici ci fa vedere come la caccia alle streghe del XV sec. fu in realta' una guerra contro le donne per assicurare al capitale un accumulo di richezza necessario al suo sviluppo. Non e' la chiesa cattolica la causa della guerra alla donna, ma il nostro sistema sociale basato sul profitto, sull'appropiazione e sulla distruzione della condivisione (di conoscenze, scelti, beni).

In this days in Italy we are witnessing a rebith of the war against women for their rights to choose an abortion or not. It's a dramatic time which in my opinion it's a consequence of the economic recession. I think that it would be good for everyone to read "Caliban and the witch" by Silvia Federici.

Federici shows that the birth of the proletariat required a war against women, inaugurating a new sexual pact and a new patriarchal era: the patriarchy of the wage. Firmly rooted in the history of the persecution of the witches and the disciplining of the body, her arguments explain why the subjugation of women was as crucial for the formation of the world proletariat as the enclosures of the land, the conquest and colonization of the 'New World,' and the slave trade.
